RPM is currently on hiatus due to budgetary and time constraints. Until such as time as we have time and the ability to pay our authors, we will not be accepting submissions or publishing any issues. Please contact editor@ruthlesspeoples.com with any questions.

Submission Rules

How to send to us

All ready to show us your love? Excellent. Just a word or two about protection before we tell you where to stick your email.

  1. Virus protection: we only accept submissions as email attachments in .RTF format.
  2. Spam protection: make sure the subject line of your email follows the following format to get through our filters:

    "RPM Submission - [Your Surname] - [Title of Work] - [Word Count]"

    So, if you were Cynthia Jones with a 2,300 word story about alien love (and why not?), the subject line should read:

    RPM Submission - Jones - Hot Earthling - 2300 words

  3. NEW REQUIREMENT - PROSE ONLY: story survey.

    If you are submitting a prose piece, your covering email must include the answers to the following points. Copy/paste the following into your email and fill in the italicised sections between the square brackets:

    • Protagonist: [indentify the protagonist]
    • Protagonist's goal: [what does the protagonist want?]
    • Protagonist's action: [what does the protagonist do to achieve the goal?]
    • Antagonist: [who (or what) is hindering the protagonist?]
    • Antagonist's action: [how does the antagonist hinder the protagonist's goal?]

    Note: If you have already had a story accepted by RPM, there is no need to comply with this requirement unless you find it helpful. We hope you do.

    Note: Currently closed to poetry submissions
    Note: no more than 3 poems at a time, please.

Getting back to you

We will respond as soon as possible. Our current response time is 48 hours, but keep checking back here in case we are overwhelmed with your love. If you have not heard from us within 7 days, please send a reminder.

We do not accept simultaneous submissions. If you have submitted your work elsewhere, allow that publisher to respond before submitting to us. You will have broken our hearts already and we are not into that kind of thing.
